by: Lynn Clark
1 oz Beeswax
1/2 oz Cocoa Butter
1/2 oz Shea Butter
1 oz Coffee Butter

Combine all ingredients in a microwave safe (preferably Pyrex measuring cup) container, melt in short bursts of 20-30 seconds until all the ingredients are melted. You may also use a double boiler. Add a bit of Chocolate Truffle or Columbian Coffee FO if you want a stronger scent or a combination of both. Pour into container, allow to cool. NOTE: Do not heat to over 160 degrees or you may ruin your propel, repel mechanism of your container and cause your coffee bar to be grainy.

Liquid Hand Soap
by Cheryl

10 oz. Olive Oil

9 oz. Sunflower Oil (can sub Rice Bran Oil also)

18 oz. Coconut Oil

7 oz. Castor Oil

4 oz. Cocoa Butter (deodorized or undeordorized will work)

2 oz. Avocado Oil

10.7 oz. Potassium Hydroxide Flakes

36 oz. Distilled Water

Directions:
Prepare double boiler, bring water to a gentle boil. Once boiling~ place in your pot of the measured oils and butters to melt the coconut & cocoa butter~( around 160 degrees). As soon as the oils are melted, mix your lye and water together and stir till clear, then immediately stir lye water into your melted oils. I keep my main pot of oils in the larger pot of water as I do this, it seems to help achieve trace more quickly. Achieving trace can take some time~ generally around 30 - 40 minutes or longer ~ so BE PATIENT! Continue to stir and use stick blender(s) if desired. Trace looks like Elmer's glue~ a tad bit thicker. Once trace has been reached, cover the entire double boiler, it does not need to seal tight, you just want it covered. After about 10 minutes, take the soap pot out and check for lye separation, which will appear as a water layer at the bottom of pot. Stir again to mix and return pot to double boiler and continue to cook. The CF book claims that the soap puffs up as it cooks, stir down if that happens, however I have never had the soap puff up in the cook time.

Remove soap pot every 30 minutes or so and "stir", cook a total of three ours or longer if necessary. The soap will become translucent after about an hour or so and will continue to get more translucent through the 3 hour cook time. (Note) It may become to thick to stir, so just mash down the paste to release any trapped air. Once you have cooked it down to a translucent looking glob of paste, your ready to begin the next phase.

In another pot, bring 6 pounds and 2 ounces of distilled water to a boil, once boiling add 3 Tblsp. of Borax( 20 mule team) to the water and dissolve. Hopefully you used a large enough pot for your paste so you can just add the borax solution to your soap pot. If not, you will need to add the paste to your borax solution pot. Turn off your burner~ this is where I add a Tblsp. & a half of what ever preservative you have on hand. Germaben II, Germall Plus, GSE and 1/4 th cup of liquid glycerin~ stir in, cover and leave sit for a few days. The paste will eventually dissolve on it's own. I usually stir mine a couple of times a day to make sure no paste is stuck to the bottom of the pot, make sure you keep it covered. The paste generally dissolves within 3 - 4 days. Once dissolved, you will notice a thin white layer on top of the liquid soap, I skim that off and now you have a very nice golden amber translucent liquid soap. This recipe yields apprx. 1 gallon and 1 pint of liquid soap. I store my soap base in the empty gallon jugs from the distilled water. Now all you need to do when your ready to use~ pour out the amount you need for one bottle or more, (warm) the base slightly in the microwave, color if you desire and scent with your favorite aroma and pour into your foamy bottles. Some scents will tend to thicken your base slightly or cloud it. You have to be careful using some EO's like sweet orange, this will cloud your soap. Most everything I have used so far with FO's has blended wonderfully.

Shampoo Bar
by Maureen Hummel

Canola Oil 14 oz

Castor Oil 4 oz

Cocoa Butter 6 oz

Coconut Oil 16 oz

Olive Oil 20 oz

Palm Kernel Oil 32 oz

Rice Bran Oil 10 oz

Shea Butter 6 oz

Rhassoul Clay 2 oz (an excellent volumizer)

Lye 15.2 oz (approx. 7.5% superfat)

27 to 41 fl oz of liquid (I use powdered goatmilk and water at 27 to 30 oz)

NOTES:
I use Dragon's Blood (or DragonFire *temporarily out of stock*) FO as it goes really with the dark brown of the rhassoul clay. You could use any Fragrance Oil or Essential Oil you want or no fragrance at all.

I make this CPOP or ITMHP and with the combination of gelling, goatmilk, rhassoul and FO it turns a VERY dark brown. The lather has a brownish tinge to it, but it doesn't stain. The lather has an incredibly thick, shaving foam like consistency. This bar is my hands down best seller.

I keep meaning to add some silk or silk protein to it, but I keep forgetting. Despite that it leaves my long, (typically fine) hair shiny, easy to brush and with added volume..

Shaving Soap
by Cheryl

1lb. 4oz. Coconut Oil

1lb. 4 oz. Palm Oil

2lb. 8 oz. Olive Oil

4 drops of ROE (add to oils when melting)

1# 14 oz Distilled Water

11 oz. Lye

Directions:
At trace add: 3 Tblsps. of Bentonite Clay and 4 Tblsps. Powdered Goats Milk. Scent is optional, I usually split the batch in half, I leave one unscented and scent the other half with Suz's Bay Rum and a tiny bit of Lime EO. Scent this lightly as it is used as a shaving soap. I pour each half into 3" PVC pipe. This one will gel being well insulated in the pipe. Once set, I cut the logs into 2" strips, they work perfectly for most styles of mugs.

3 oz. Glycerin

Rich Foot Butter
by Heather Kalisiak
Adapted from a recipe from Earthly Bodies and Heavenly Hair by Dina Falconi

2 parts Butter (Shea, Avocado, Mango, or other)

2 parts Coconut Oil

1 part Cocoa Butter*

4 parts Jojoba Oil

1 part Candelilla Wax or 1 1/3 parts Beeswax

30 drops of EO per 4 oz of the above (100 drops = 5 ml = 1 teaspoon)

Directions:
Temper your butters by melting and holding at 170-180 degrees for 10 minutes. Melt in the rest of your ingredients except the EO. Cool to below 160 degrees and add EO. Pour into jars of your choice and let cool.

*NOTE:
I use peppermint EO with regular cocoa butter for a revitalizing foot butter and lavender EO with unscented cocoa butter for a soothing foot butter. I just don't like the chocolate scent with the lavender.

Cuticle Balm
by Sharon Finch

1/2 ounce Beeswax
1 ounce Jojoba Oil (you can use any oil you wish...I love it with the jojoba though)
2 drops of Myrrh Essential Oil
2 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil (I actually use Manuka)
2 drops of Vitamin E Oil

Melt beeswax in a double boiler, add jojoba; stirring gently until mixed. Remove from heat and add essential oils and Vitamin E. Pour into containers. I use the little Victorian "pill boxes" and this makes enough for eight of them filled almost to the top.
Be careful giving this away........people become addicted to it! I have at least 12 people tell me they like this 100% better than Burt's Bees.

(note: Vitamin E Oil is readily available at most drugstores)

Notes:
Use instead of antiseptic ointment, this is far superior!

Menthol Sports Salve
by Geri Burgert

8 oz. Beeswax

2 oz. Unscented Cocoa Butter

4 oz. Shea Butter

8 oz. Jojoba

8 oz. Sweet Almond Oil

1 oz. Rosemary

0.5 oz. Eucalyptus

0.5 oz. Cajeput

0.1 oz. Benzoin

0.2 oz. Clove

0.2 oz. Camphor

0.5 oz. Peppermint

0.5 oz. Menthol Crystals

0.2 oz. Black Pepper

This salve works wonders for tired and achy muscles. It's also fantastic as a headache rub, and it's great for stuffy sinuses. It gives a warm, then icy cool feeling.

Directions:
Melt the beeswax in a double boiler (heat-resistant glass pitcher in a larger pot is fine). Add shea and cocoa butters. Then add the jojoba and sweet almond to the melted oils. Remove the glass pitcher from heat and stir in the EOs. Pour into small containers and let cool before putting on the caps.

Susan's "Sweet Sleep" Salve

1/2 cup each: Lavender Buds, Rose Petals, Mugwort & Chamomile infused in 1 quart Olive Oil.

Infusing Directions:
I usually mix the herbs in the jar and then pour the olive oil over it, replace the lid and shake to coat. Set up for 30 days, shaking the jar about every 2-3 days to be sure the herbs are covered well. When your 30 days has passed strain the Olive Oil through cheesecloth to remove herbs.

Directions:
Measure your oil and mix equal parts of infused oil, shea butter and beeswax. Heat in a double boiler until all is melted, stir and pour into containers. I use 2 ounce amber jars or 2 ounce flat tins. Keep in a cool place in opaque containers for at least a year. I have had some I use personally for about 18 months and it is still potent and has no rancidity.

To Use:
Massage into temples before drifting off to sleep, or use during the day in moments of anxiety or tension.

Foaming Bath Truffles
by Barbara Poole

2 cups Baking Soda

1 cup Citric Acid

1/2 cup Cornstarch

1 oz. Cocoa Butter

1 oz. Shea Butter

1/2 oz. Almond Oil

1/2 oz. Castor Oil

Directions:
Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly.

Melt the butters, add oils, mixing thoroughly. Add to the dry ingredients, mixing with hands to thoroughly incorporate. Add FO/EO as desired. If mixture is dry, add more castor oil, a teaspoonful at a time, until the mixture holds its shape when packed together. Pack into molds of choice and allow to dry, or pack into a meatballer, release, and allow to dry. These will dry very hard in a short time. When dry, wrap airtight in colored foil or plastic wrap. I have some of these that I made in July 2004 and they are still hard and fragrant, without any discoloration.

For Foaming Bath Truffles, add 1 cup of SLSa (sodium lauryl sulfoacetate) to dry ingredients and proceed with the rest of the directions.

Cheryl's Bath Bombs
by Cheryl Monsour

1 cup Baking Soda

1/2 cup Citric Acid

1/2 cup Cornstarch

2 Tablespoon Oil

EO or FO to Preference

Witch Hazel

Directions:
Add oil and FO or EO and make balls and spritz until it clumps and makes a ball. If it gets dry when you're into it for a while, just spritz it some more. Then spritz on the outside to harden. IF you want them really hard add 1/4 cup of clay in place of some of the baking soda. Liquid Crystal Colors look beautiful in this recipe.

Mango Smoothie
by Cheryl

0.4 oz. E-wax

2.8 oz. Mango Butter

0.4 oz. Liquid Glycerin

1/4 tsp. Meadowfoam Oil

1/4 tsp. Emu Oil

1/4 tsp. Jojoba Oil

Germaben II as preservative or what ever you have on hand. Use the normal amount recommended on the preservative.

4.8 oz. Distilled Water

30 - 60 drops of EO or FO to scent. I like to scent it with Suz's Mango Madness, nice refreshing scent when used as a facial moisturizer.

Directions:
Combine all the ingredients except the water, scent and preservative. Heat in the microwave till all is melted on medium heat. Add water, stick blend till you achieve a runny whipped crème texture. Add scent, preservative and colorant or mica if you desire. Stick blend again till it just starts to thicken, pour into jars. This will set as it cools. I store mine in the refrigerator.

Whipped Crème
by Chyna

14 oz. Distilled Water (may use all or part Aloe Vera Gel liquid)

4 oz. Oil of Your Choice

1.5 oz. Emulsifying Wax

1.2 oz. Stearic Acid

0.2 oz Liquid Germall Plus

0.1 oz. Fragrance Oil / Essential Oil

A few drops of Liquid Crystal Color if desired

Directions:
All items used to make cream should be sterilized. Combine over double boiler water and Citric Acid heat till it's totally melted, then add all ingredients except fragrance, color, and Germall preservative. When the mixture turns creamy color pour into a blender and whip off and on till it cools (this can take a while ). I usually whip it for 5 minutes let it cool 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and whip some more. You don't want it to get so cool that you can't pour it, this will thicken in jars as it cools more.

*NOTE:
To make a man's After Shave Conditioning creme, use the above recipe but for the oils, use Fractionated Coconut, Meadowfoam or Jojoba or a single one of those or a combination. These oils produce a non greasy but extremely emollient cream that men love. Scent with Oakmoss for an extra special treat for your man.

Un-Petroleum Jelly
Author Unknown

1 oz. Beeswax

4 oz. Oil (Sweet Almond, Jojoba or Rice Bran work nicely)

1.5 oz. Emulsifying Wax

1.2 oz. Stearic Acid

0.2 oz Liquid Germall Plus

0.1 oz. Fragrance Oil / Essential Oil

A few drops of Liquid Crystal Color if desired

Directions:
Slowly melt beeswax and oil together. Pour into tins or containers and cool. Infused oils would also be nice.

Tips for Using Beeswax:
Dedicate separate utensils for working with beeswax. Beeswax will not come off the utensils easily. It leaves a thin coating that is wonderful for the body, not the spoon! :) Melt slowly, beeswax takes time to melt. Higher temps can damage the oils and cause a fire hazard. Nature takes time. When adding essential oils to the recipe wait until the base is cooling enhance the natural healing effect of the balm. Consistency? If it's too thick, add more oil and reheat. Too thin? Add more Beeswax.
